WHEATON, MD – A woman was hit while walking in an intersection and died from her injuries yesterday, Bethesda Magazine reports.

She was attempting to walk across Veirs Mill Road when she was struck by a car. Authorities were called to the scene of the crash at Veirs Mill Road and Ferrara Avenue.

The wreck took place at about 6:22 p.m. Monday.

The driver departed the site of the accident before waiting for the police. The vehicle was a 2012 to 2015 Volkswagen Passat and either silver or light blue in color.

Police have asked the public to come forward with any details concerning the accident.
