STAFFORD, VA – A Stafford man died after his vehicle crashed head-on into a deputy’s vehicle over the weekend, according to ABC 8 News.

The driver of a Dodge Charger was heading eastbound on Garrisonville Road when his vehicle veered over the median and struck a patrol car. A Stafford County deputy was hit before he could swerve out of the Charger’s path.

Emergency responders arrived at the crash scene at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Charger’s driver, a 24-year-old man from Stafford, was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The deputy was also hospitalized but has since been released from care.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
