CROWNSVILLE, MD – A vehicle struck and killed a man who had exited his vehicle on I-97 last Friday, WNAV reports.

A driver had stepped out of his vehicle to check on his friend who had stopped her car in the roadway. Another vehicle struck him as he was walking across the road.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene near the exit towards Crownsville and pronounced the man dead. He was a 33-year-old from Annapolis.

The driver of the stopped vehicle was detained by authorities and charged with DUI.
