BELTSVILLE, MD – A Maryland state trooper suffered serious injuries after an impaired driver crashed into their vehicle Monday morning.

According to WTOP, the crash took place on Baltimore Avenue near Ritz Way around 2:00 AM on May 9th.

The state trooper was standing next to their parked vehicle, when a Ford Focus crashed into the patrol car. The impact of the crash sent the patrol car into the state trooper, knocking them 10-15 feet backwards.

The Ford Focus caught fire on impact of the crash. Other state troopers at the scene rescued the unconscious driver from the vehicle.

Both the state trooper and the driver of the Ford Focus were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford Focus, 29-year-old Francis Ndoh, has since been charged with driving under the influence.
