Do you have the right personal injury attorney working for you

Over the past four decades, I’ve helped thousands who were badly injured in auto collisions put their lives back on track.  A lot of my clients call because they’ve heard I’m the man for the job.  A friend or family member refers them to me after I’ve successfully helped with their case, or they went online, read the reviews from all the clients I’ve helped in the past and chose to come to me for their case.   I am always grateful for their trust and happy to help in every way I can.  

Other times a person injured in an auto collision will contact me after already hiring the wrong attorney.  They call up desperate because their case is going nowhere. They are often still badly injured. The attorney they chose is unable or unwilling to help them get the medical care they need. Their case has dragged on for months now, in some cases for more than a year and they feel no closer to settling than the day the accident occurred. 

This is an unfortunate and extremely frustrating experience for these poor people. They come to me hoping I can fix the situation. Often, I can, but it’s not always the easiest thing to do.  

So today I’d like to talk with you about what it means to have the right attorney on your case and how you can know for sure how to choose the best personal injury attorney to represent you after an auto collision.  

When choosing a personal injury attorney, one of the most important things to look for is experience.  Does the attorney you’re considering have experience with your type of claim?  Do they know how to build a strong case? Do they know how to negotiate with insurance adjusters and are they prepared to represent you in court if that’s what it takes to see you fairly compensated for your claim?

Are they going to effectively communicate with you about what you need to do and what’s going on with your case?  Will you have a dedicated point of contact?  Will this person keep you updated about progress in your case? Will they answer your questions in a timely manner?  Will they help coordinate your treatment with the right medical specialists? Will they help you with your rental car and vehicle repairs?   If your attorney is hard to reach, or you do not have a dedicated point of contact, if they are slow to respond or unclear with what they expect of you, then you do not have the right attorney.  

Does the law firm you’re considering have the resources they need to properly handle your case? Do they work with a network of medical specialists who will treat you for your injuries with no out-of-pocket costs for you? Do they have the resources they need to properly investigate your case, gather evidence, and hire expert witnesses when necessary?  If they answer no to these questions, this is not the right law firm to handle your personal injury claim.  

Are you talking to someone who understands what you’ve been through? Are they empathetic? Do they realize you’ve been through a traumatic experience; that you’re injured and deserve to be treated with compassion?  Do they offer you support and assistance when they can? Do they listen to your concerns so that they can properly understand your situation and what you’re going through?  If the answer is no, run.  This is not the right law firm for you. 

Lastly, if you want to make sure you have the right legal team, make sure they are upfront and honest with you about the strengths and weaknesses of your case.  Make sure they speak with you in plain language and discuss the legal process in detail.  Make sure they provide you with regular updates on your case and explain all the potential risks and outcomes you may expect.
