Dear Reader,
We’re days away from the election so first, I encourage you to PLEASE GO VOTE. But that’s not the purpose of today’s blog. Today, I want to discuss something important to me: your safety. With this election, so much is at stake that tension is high, especially around DC. So today, I’m sharing a few tips and reminders to help keep you safe before and after Election Day.
Before Election Day:
First, if you plan to vote in person, make sure you’ve got your day mapped out. Know where your polling place is, how to get there, and give yourself plenty of time. If you can, bring a friend or family member along.
If you end up in a crowd and things start to get heated, don’t stick around. Leave if you don’t feel safe. Stay calm and take care of yourself.
If You See Something, Say Something:
I can’t stress this enough—if something doesn’t feel right, speak up. If you see something suspicious, like strange behavior at a polling station or a package that doesn’t belong, report it. Better safe than sorry, and your quick action could help protect others.
On Election Day:
When it’s time to vote, stay aware of your surroundings. If things seem off, move away from the situation and report your concerns.
After the Election:
No matter who wins, there will be celebrations and protests. Hopefully these are peaceful and the transition of power is smooth. Still, things will be tense through Inauguration Day. Keep an eye on local news so you know what’s happening around town. If there’s a protest or any kind of gathering nearby, and you don’t need to be there, stay clear.
One more thing—make sure your loved ones are doing okay. Check in on friends or neighbors who might be feeling a little uneasy about everything going on. Especially those who might be more vulnerable, like the elderly, could use some extra support.
Go Vote. Stay Safe and Aware
So please grab a friend and go vote. Stay alert and aware. If something doesn’t feel right, speak up and take care of yourself. And remember—if you or someone you care about is ever hurt because of someone else’s negligence, I’m here for you.
Until next time, stay safe, stay aware, and VOTE on Election Day!
