PARKTON, MD – Emergency responders were called to the site of an accident that claimed the life of one driver last weekend, according to Maryland State Police.
The driver of a 2002 Volkswagen Golf GTI was driving south on I-83 when his car swerved off of the road. It then veered and flipped over in the center of the highway. The wreck happened near Old York Road, Maryland State Police report.
The victim, a 39-year-old from Pennsylvania, was taken to a medical center where he later died. His passenger sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
Authorities shut down the highway in the south lanes for a short time after the accident.
