WASHINGTON, DC – A cyclist died after being struck by a Mack truck in Northwest DC Wednesday morning.
According to WUSA, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of 21st Street NW and I Street NW around 8:00 AM on July 20th.
The cyclist was reportedly biking on the right side of the truck when the driver attempted to turn right onto I Street NW. The cyclist attempted to bike out in front of the truck and was struck by the front passenger side.
The cyclist unfortunately succumbed to their injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital. Authorities identified the victim as 40-year-old Shawn O’Donnell.
Metro police continue to investigate the fatal collision.
