FRUITLAND, MD – One person was pronounced dead after their car crashed and caught fire this afternoon, ABC 47 reports.
A vehicle was traveling north on the Route 13 bypass when it swerved from the road, overturned, and burst into flames. The wreck happened near St. Luke’s Road at about 2:35 p.m, according to Maryland State Police.
The driver was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. Their identity has not yet been confirmed by investigators.
Commuters were advised to seek alternate routes as emergency responder vehicles obstructed traffic around the crash site.
An investigator with the Maryland State Police Accident Collision Department is currently looking into the circumstances of the crash.
