FREDERICK, MD – A person was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on I-70 after exiting their vehicle early Friday morning.
According to WUSA, the fatal collision took place on I-70 westbound near the exit for MD-17 around 3:00 AM on June 17th.
The victim reportedly hit a deer with their car and then exited the vehicle. Shortly after stepping out from the vehicle, they were struck by a tractor trailer.
Officials identified the victim as Scott Maddocks. There were three other people in Maddock’s vehicle at the time of the collision, but no one else suffered injuries.
I-70 westbound was shut down for several hours but reopened late Friday morning.
