NORFOLK, VA – A high school student was hit by a vehicle while she was walking to school on Monday morning, according to WAVY 10.
A pedestrian was walking to school along the intersection of East Virginia Beach Boulevard and Park Avenue when she was struck by a car. The driver sped away from the scene instead of waiting for authorities to arrive.
Officers with the Norfolk Police Department were dispatched to the crash site at about 7:10 a.m. Monday. The pedestrian, a 16-year-old student, was taken to the hospital for severe injuries. She is reported to be in stable condition.
The area of the accident was closed down until about 11 a.m. as emergency responders treated the pedestrian.
The driver of the vehicle has not yet been found. We will follow this story as local police investigate.
