GOOCHLAND, VA – Authorities were called to a fatal incident involving a two-car crash on Tuesday, The Progress Index reports.
A man was traveling across the Route 288 bridge when his vehicle crashed into another car. He then exited his vehicle and walked to the rail before jumping off of the bridge.
Emergency responders were called at about 1:45 p.m. to transport the driver to a hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after medics arrived. His identity has not yet been released.
It’s unclear whether the driver of the other vehicle sustained any injuries.
State police are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
