DUMFRIES, VA – A motorcyclist died and three others suffered injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Dumfries Sunday morning.
According to WTOP, the fatal accident took place at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Allen Dent Road around 11:00 AM on August 7th.
A motorcyclist was reportedly traveling southbound on Richmond Highway and failed to stop at a red light. Witnesses report that the motorcyclist was driving in a reckless manner. The motorcycle then collided with an SUV that was attempting to turn left onto Allen Dent Road.
The motorcyclist was ejected from their vehicle during the crash. Their body reportedly collided with the front end of a truck. They were taken to the hospital where they were unfortunately pronounced dead. Authorities identified the motorcyclist as 46-year-old Jason Allen Whitaker.
A 50-year-old woman and two juveniles who were in the SUV at the time of the crash were also hospitalized with minor injuries.
Prince William County Police continue to investigate the fatal accident.
