BRUNSWICK, MD – One person suffered injuries after an Amtrak train crashed into a tractor-trailer on the tracks Wednesday evening.
According to FOX 5, the collision occurred on South Maple Avenue around 5:20 PM on August 3rd.
The tractor-trailer was reportedly stuck on the train tracks due to a traffic back-up at the time of the crash. The train crashed into the rear passenger side of the tractor-trailer, and the impact of the crash caused the tractor-trailer to collide with a passenger truck. The passenger truck subsequently crashed into a nearby building.
The driver of the passenger truck suffered non-life threatening injuries and has been hospitalized.
The driver of the Amtrak train and the 142 passengers aboard were uninjured.
Frederick County Police continue to investigate the collision.
