BROOKLYN PARK, MD – One person died after a DUI crash involving a dump truck on I-695 in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to WTOP, the fatal crash took place in an active work zone at the 3B Exit Ramp on I-695 just after 12:00 AM on May 18th.
The dump truck driver reportedly drove the wrong way up the closed exit ramp. They attempted to turn onto the Outer Loop but were unable to make the turn without backing up. While backing the vehicle up, a car crashed into the side of the dump truck. The car subsequently spun out and collided with a barrier wall.
The driver of the car, 33-year-old Anthony Filardo, sadly died at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck, 33-year-old Nathaniel Ingram, has since been charged with DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The crash remains under investigation.
