CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – A man died over the weekend after he was in several collisions near the Maryland border, WTOP News reports.
A driver struck a stationary vehicle near the intersection of Southern Avenue and 51st Street. After the crash, his own vehicle was stopped in a turning lane. A Chevrolet Malibu then hit his car, causing a chain collision with a third vehicle.
The wreck took place at about 2:41 a.m. Saturday.
D.C. emergency responders pronounced the man deceased at the crash site. He was a 48-year-old from southeast D.C.
The Chevrolet kept driving and struck three other vehicles before its driver and passenger fled the site of the crash.
D.C. investigators are looking into the accident.
