CULPEPER, VA – A female driver was hurt and her passenger died on Saturday after a two-vehicle wreck at an intersection, according to WAVY 10.
A Ford F-350 was traveling northbound on Route 29 when it attempted to make a left turn onto Route 718. The vehicle crashed into a Mercedes SUV at the intersection at about 10:45 p.m.
The Ford was carrying a trailer of cows, who had all escaped the vehicle after the crash.
The Mercedes driver sustained severe injuries but is expected to recover. Her passenger, a 56-year-old man, was taken to UVA Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. He was reportedly not wearing seat belt restraints at the time of the wreck.
Virginia State Police have charged the Mercedes driver with driving under the influence, and the Ford driver for failing to yield to the right of way.
