HANCOCK, MD – One person died and three others suffered injuries after a triple motorcycle accident in Hancock Sunday morning.
According to WDVM, the fatal crash took place on I-70 westbound around 11:25 AM on May 29th.
The victim, 53-year-old Sandra K. Wetzel, reportedly lost control of her 95 Honda motorcycle. She crashed into a guardrail and was subsequently ejected from the vehicle. Wetzel unfortunately died at the scene.
The two other motorcyclists riding with Wetzel also crashed. They suffered serious injuries and have been hospitalized.
A 14-year-old passenger on one of the motorcycles also suffered serious injuries. They were airlifted to John Hopkins Children’s Hospital. Their current condition is unknown.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
