JEFFERSON, MD – A man in a motorized wheelchair was pronounced dead after a car struck him yesterday, according to WDVM.

The driver of a Nissan was traveling west on Point of Rocks Road when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in a wheelchair. The Nissan driver did not see the pedestrian as he drove over a hill, according to local police. The pedestrian fell from the wheelchair and was killed at the site of the crash.

The wreck was reported at about 2:46 p.m. Thursday, in the 3390 block of the road.

Officials closed down Point of Rocks Road for a couple of hours as emergency responders were on the scene.

The Frederick County States Attorney’s Office is handling the investigation.
