CHARLES COUNTY, MD – A man from Waldorf was killed Saturday after his car crashed at an intersection, according to the Southern Maryland Chronicle.

A driver was traveling on Smallwood Drive when his Kia Cadenza crashed into a nearby tree at an intersection.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Smallwood Drive and St. Charles Parkway.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of the collision at about 10:42 p.m. Saturday.

The Kia driver, a 42-year-old from Waldorf, died at the site of the crash.

Police report that the man was traveling at excessive speeds when he attempted to turn at the intersection. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is handling the ongoing investigation.
