At least five vehicles were driving on I-495 when they were all involved in a collision. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue reported that two passenger vehicles, a box truck, and two tractor-trailers were involved.
Authorities were called to the scene between the highway’s intersections with Connecticut Avenue and Rockville Pike, at about 12:30 p.m. EMS rescued a driver who was trapped inside the box truck. The box truck driver, along with two other occupants, were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
There were three other patients who were injured but declined transport to the hospital. Everyone is believed to be in stable condition.
Cleanup crews arrived to clean up a spill from one of the tractor-trailers. It’s unclear if the area has been reopened.
