LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, MD – The operator of a light-rail train may have been at fault in a crash involving a passenger vehicle, WUSA 9 reports.
A driver was traveling east on Maple Road when his 2003 Honda Accord was struck by a Light Rail train. He was killed at the site of the accident.
The Honda drove through the lowering gates for the train before the accident, which primarily caused the crash. However, it was also determined that the Light Rail drove through the intersection before the roadway was blocked by the gates.
The Anne Arundel Traffic Safety Investigators are continuing their investigation into this possible operator error.
