ST. LEONARD, MD – Authorities arrested a driver on Monday after they struck a police car and injured an officer, WMAR 2 News reports.
Two cars were traveling south on Maryland Route 4 at excessive speeds when the wreck took place. One vehicle attempted to evade a traffic stop, then swerved over the centerline. The vehicle then crashed into a light pole and a police car.
One deputy and their K-9 partner were injured in the crash. The car’s driver was taken into custody and charged.
The second driver attempted to escape by driving up a barrier and running into a wooded area. They were later detained by authorities.
