ACCOKEEK, MD – One driver died and another was critically injured after their cars crashed and burst into flames, the Southern Maryland Chronicle reports.
A man from Accokeek was driving on Farmington Road when his vehicle was rear-ended by another car. The impact caused the vehicles to roll across the intersection with Indian Head Highway and catch fire.
Officers responded to the wreck at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
Nearby pedestrians extricated both of the drivers from their cars. The Accokeek man was taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The other driver sustained severe injuries.
The incident is being investigated by the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.
