WASHINGTON, DC – Two people suffered injuries after their car crashed into a vehicle barricade early Sunday morning.
According to FOX 5, the single-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of 2nd Street NE and East Capitol Street around 2:00 AM on April 10th.
A Volkswagen Jetta reportedly ran over several traffic cones before crashing into a raised vehicle barrier. The Jetta burst into flames on impact.
Passerby helped rescue the two occupants from the burning vehicle.
DC Fire and EMS also responded to the scene of the crash. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police have since charged the driver with driving under the influence and operating a vehicle with improper tags.
