WASHINGTON, DC – A vehicle drove into an outside seating area this morning, killing two women and injuring eight others, Fox 5 DC reports.

A man was driving down Connecticut Avenue when he lost control of his car and crashed into ten people in front of the Parthenon restaurant.

Emergency responders were called to the incident at about 12 p.m., in the 5500 block of the road. Two women were pronounced deceased after the wreck. Their identities have not yet been released.

Five patients were transported to local hospitals for serious injuries. Medics treated three people for minor injuries at the scene of the crash.

Additional details about the cause of the wreck are unknown as Maryland State Police investigate.
