TYSONS, VA – Two people died and another suffered serious injuries after a head-on collision on I-495 in Tysons Tuesday night.
According to NBC 4, the fatal accident took place on I-495 near Leesburg Pike around 10:15 PM on May 17th.
A Mazda was reportedly traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-495 when it collided head-on with a Buick Encore. The Buick caught fire on impact.
Both the driver of the Mazda and the driver of the Buick died at the scene. Their identities are unknown at this time.
A passenger in the Buick suffered serious injuries and burns as a result of the crash. They have been hospitalized at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Their current condition is unknown.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate the fatal crash.
