WASHINGTON, DC – A pedestrian and cyclist died while a driver and passenger suffered injuries after a single-car crash Saturday evening.
According to ABC 7, the fatal collision took place at the intersection of Minnesota Avenue NE and Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE around 5:40 PM on July 2nd.
A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was reportedly traveling northbound on Minnesota Avenue when the driver suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness.
The pickup truck collided with a cyclist in the intersection and then crashed into a fireworks stand, striking another person.
Both the cyclist and the pedestrian working the fireworks stand died at the scene. They have been identified as 70-year-old Michael Hawkins Randall and 64-year-old Charles Jackson.
The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were both hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Metro police continue to investigate the fatal accident.
