BEL AIR, MD – Four people were killed in a head-on collision in Bel Air yesterday, according to WBAL TV 11.
A 54-year-old woman was traveling north on the Bel Air Bypass at about 1:40 p.m. when her Toyota RAV4 slammed head-on into a Honda Civic near the intersection with Rock Spring Road.
Maryland State Police report that the Toyota’s driver attempted to pass a Honda, causing the two to collide. The impact caused the Toyota to overturn and burst into flames.
Three passengers were extricated from the Toyota. One passenger, a 73-year-old woman from Bel Air, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were flown to a trauma center, where the driver later died.
Both driver and passenger of the Honda Civic, a 35-year-old and 34-year-old from Joppa, were pronounced dead at the crash site.
Authorities shut down the area for several hours after the accident.
