WASHINGTON, DC – Investigators are searching for two drivers that ran into a person as they were crossing a street on Thursday, according to Popville.

One person was walking across the New Jersey Avenue crosswalk when two vehicles struck them. The Metropolitan Police Department reports that one of the cars had run a red light at the time of the wreck. Neither driver stayed at the scene to wait for authorities.

Medics arrived shortly after 8:22 p.m., at the intersection of New York Avenue and New Jersey Avenue. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. Their identity has yet to be released.

The Major Crash Investigations Unit at MPD is currently searching for the drivers of the striking vehicles.
